Push+Pull
Description |
Romance is complex. Passions tug the heart strings and make your head spin. Partners push your buttons and leave you punch-drunk. But don't bother sobering up: love is a battlefield, and we like it rough.
|
What makes this special? |
Love is a battlefield, but this battlefield is littered with mines and they're one of the only methods you have of killing the enemy... after all, harpoons aren't exactly lethal and Spire-humping an enemy to destroy her is unreliable at best, but suicidal when that ship has a mine launcher pointed in your face.

Tips and Strategies |
Lesmok ammo benefits the Mine Launchers and Harpoons by making them longer range, so it's banned for this rule set. We want this battle to be up-close and personal. Heavy Clip allows Minotaurs to hit very effectively at longer ranges, so that's also banned. You could choose an ammo that will make the harpoon do more piercing damage, but it might be wiser to take something that makes mines do more damage or alters their range, making deployment easier. The obvious range-changing ammos are Lochnager and incendiary, but some people prefer burst or charged for more damage.
Minotaurs and Harpoons can strip the armor, but how do you plan on getting the kill? Do you play it safe and push the enemy into your mines? Or do you pull them into your mines and hump them to death? Do you focus on shooting out enemy weapons with the Minotaur's shatter damage? Or do you instead aim far from the enemy vessel's center of gravity to inflict maximum spin? Where do you put the gunner? Do you put the mine launcher near the gunner? Either way, you're putting your ship, crew, and team in constant jeopardy during this fight. Helm tool selection is also a very important consideration for captains. Impact Bumpers can help reduce humping and mine damage (because mines do impact damage!). It's also worth remember that the effects of Impact Bumpers persist for 5 seconds after the tool is deactivated. This can be used to a pilot's advantage by "juggling" it; that is, activating the Bumpers for a moment and then quickly switching back to a different tool. Kerosene and Moonshine can "stiffen" the ship to prevent the enemy from spinning you, be it from Minotaur volleys or harpoon reels. Even more importantly, Kerosene and Moonshine can be used by the pilot to prevent rotation as the crew reels the enemy towards you. And hey, if you're dragging an enemy toward you, why not use the Phoenix Claw to quickly turn and dump a Tar Barrel on them? It's a trap! |
