Tar Wars (brought to you by Daelf)
Description |
The guild upstream wants to sell us down the river. To maintain control, we must tilt the scales in our favor. Show no mercy as you gut these bottom-feeders and leave them belly-up in murky waters.edit.

What makes this special? |
The Minotaur, Mortar, Light Flak, Tar Barrel, and your ship itself are the weapons at your disposal. This rule set could be seen as a combination of Bumper Boats and Push+Pull or Tornado. The side weapons, ammos, and required loadouts should differentiate it from those aforementioned rule sets (and Under the Sea and Shishkebab) and give it a unique playstyle. Everybody is equal because there is so little choice given to the players, which, for Chaos, is something we typically frown upon, but that lack of choice should actually help set these rules apart.

Tips and Strategies |
While the Minotaur is your primary weapon with this rule set, you should not neglect utilizing your Mortar, Light Flak, and your ship itself as weapons. The Minotaur will spin and shove the enemy while whittling away at the armor. Use this to maneuver the enemy into positions where he/she is less of a threat, but watch out for enemy Tar Barrels. Once the enemy's armor is down or they are forced into a vulnerable position, fire your Mortar and/or Light Flak to do real damage or apply friction (literally) to the enemy. Mortars will set fire to the enemy even if the armor is up, especially with Burst ammo (to increase the Area of Effect) or Greased ammo (to rapid-fire a multitude of shots). At farther-than-point-blank ranges, the Light Flak may be more accurate and useful than the Mortar, but remember that when the Light Flak is within arming time, its shots will do significantly less damage. Also consider upon which side of the ship you'll equip each of these two light weapons and your reasons for doing so.
Here's my advice for shooting the Minotaur: pretend it's an invisible Artemis. The bean bags the Mino fires are invisible, but there's no vertical drop and they take a few seconds to reach their target, just like an Artemis rocket. The bean bags do have a spread (like a Carronade), so use heavy clip when not at point-blank range. When close, feel free to experiment with normal or Greased to increase your clip size. Target the center of the enemy ship until you get a feel for the gun and tame the beast. After you understand the Minotaur, avoid hitting the enemy balloon and instead aim for the hull if you want to strip the armor; the Mino does shatter and piercing damage, just like a Gatling gun! Aiming at the balloon might help spin or shove the enemy, but it won't do any real damage. Try to aim at the farthest edges of their ship; the further away your shots land from the target's center of gravity, the more force you apply to spin their ship! Maximum irritation! The Minotaur is typically countered by activating Moonshine or Kerosene, and Pilots are required to bring Kerosene. Try to count your opponent's shots and guess the time when you should tap your Kerosene to help negate the enemy Minotaur's push. Yes, your engines will take a bit of damage, but you'll be able to keep your positioning and gun arcs. Remember that if you're hit with a Minotaur while using the Phoenix Claw, you'll feel the effects even more. Tar Barrels can be used defensively or offensively, but be wary of damaging your allies; tar will affect all ships, yours included!. If you're going to prove yourself the alpha in this battle, your fighting fish will have to swim with style. |
